#2 Few Pointers from Lifelong Learners

I don't know why I hadn't written on this activity. Actually, from the beginning I read almost every time I went into this, someone's blog relating their experience in completing the task. I found that I spent more time then most because I actually did listen to the podcasts and actually read all the written documentation and then tried to do all the exercises where some people told me they just looked said okay and moved on.

#23 A Brief Summary of this Program

Wow!! Finally, I didn't think I'd ever get through this. And believe me, I would not have without help from people who I have mentioned in some of my posts as assisting me in completing this experience. Yes, it was an experience. I would say overall, I have never signed into or would sign into as many websites as I have and probably will not again. I would have prefered to muddle through this on a weekly basis with a group of people who are as techonology challenged as I am. I know that I am not and will never be a "tecky" it is simply not my thing. I can now say that I have been there, done it and boy am I glad I finally got finished!

#22 Titles Available for Audibooks

I visited the website Project Gutenberg. I looked at the list of downloaded ebooks in the last 30 days which was pretty amazing and the list of titles that were available. If you were a student and needed to read a particulat book that you could not get a hard copy this is really a great website. I personally probably would not use it because I have tried listening to a book on tape and find that I prefer to actually see the words in print. I find that I do not retain information as well when listening as I become distracted to easily although I know many, many commuters find this helps to pass the time.

#21 Useful Search Tools

I visited the Yahoo podcast which is closing down podcast site on October 31st. I then visited podcastalley. I went into Sony pictures where I saw the preview for two movies one of which was The Other Boleyn Sister. My sons download from Itunes so I am aware of this website and how it operates. I know many people today may download perhaps a TV series and watch it while taking the metro to work to pass the time and have listened to all the podcasts that were presented throughout this entire learning process.

#19 Web 2.0 Awards List

I selected the short list of winners. I went into arcaplayand play wacky word search. This is where I could spend a lot of time. I enjoy doing crossword, word search, sudoku, solitaire and I used to play Mahjong for hours on the computer(spending way to much time) so although I'm sure I could spend time in this website which also took me to ebay to buy games I think I will try to control myself.

#18 Online Productivity Tools

I did make a document in Zoho and tried to publish it to my blogspot but was not able to accomplish this. I was able to send as email to myself at my email work address. I did enjoy this activity and found with a little bit of time could use this without much unnecessary stress.

#17 Sandbox Wiki

I actually did this exercise several days ago and forgot to post it to my blog. I added my name to the 2.0 Sandbox wiki. You will see in my above posting my blogspot sandbox wiki address.

#16 Wikis

I found this to be of great interest. I liked the way you could go in and see what other library systems were doing and what people had to say about various library related topics. I visited the Library 2.0 in 15 minutes a day and also Library Success a best practices Wiki. I can see where this could really get a lot of discussion going within systems by putting something innovative out to a large group of people who have something invested in getting both pros and cons of software, programs, policies and procedures.

#15 Few Perspectives on Web 2.0 and Future

Although I agree that the children of today will probably change the look of the library totally since they have been raised on electronics by watching TV many more hours then children raised say back before 1980-1990 and by computer games, etc. I still think that your greater population using the library today and probably for the next maybe 20 years are not as computer saavy and perhaps only by forcing them to become you find more people going to book stores like a Barnes and Nobles where they can browse, sit down and possibly buy or perhaps decide to visit their local library instead of purchasing an item that they may read once and then find difficulty in what to do with when finished.

#14 Technorati and how tags work

I didn't realize until I got into Technorati that I had already visited this website doing an earlier exercise. Again, I guess it was just showing another way of getting information and I might possibly visit this website in the future as I did visit familyfun.com and look at recipes but I could also just get the magazine. If I had nothing better to do with my time I might spend more time wandering around if I was bored and didn't have a good book to read or people I enjoy being in their company.

#13 Learn about tagging abd Del.icio.us

I visited this website but did not find it to be something that I would be interested in looking and signing up or into. I really would rather find out about something by discussing with a friend or group of people in person. I like knowing a person or someone who knows them in order to put much stock into how they feel about something or somebody.
Possibly if I was a college student writing a paper I may find this of some use but where I'm coming from in life I do not feel that I will ever use this.

#20 You Tube

I was very pleased that I was able with the assistance of Andrea at Fallston to post this to my blog. I tried to put House but it was just too difficult. I appreciate the help that I was able to get from one of my former co-workers. I hope that someday I will be able to do something to assist her.

#12 Rollyo

I tested this out, saw how it worked and didn't find it useful since you can use favorites right on your home page.

#11 Library Thing and Catalog Favorite Books

Okay. I could really get into this one. Just one problem. Once again I was not able to bring it over to my blog. This is so frustrating. I'm sure I am making this a whole lot harder than what it should be and I am determined to be able to accomplish this.

#10 Play Around with Online Image Generator

I made an M&M person which I had a good time doing. Again, I didn't know how to put the finished product into my blog so hopefully, tomorrow night, I will work with someone who can show me how to do this. It was fun and I will definitely play with this again.

#9 Exploring MERLIN

Tonight I explored MERLIN and was excited to see that there are online courses and web seminars that are free. I checked out social networking and also gaming, avatars and virtual worlds. When I went into the Maryland Ask Us Now page I was a little surprised at what it looked like. I guess I wasn't expecting My Space and the advertisement at the top of the page. I tried to get into Feedster and Technorati Tutorial but it was taking too long to download as I am using dail up service from home to do this exercise. I also did start to watch a You Tube called Second Life but am still not sure how it gets loaded so it doesn't constantly start and stop and start and stop. I am planning to get some asssistance from someone who has completed and using faster internet service as well.

#8 RSS feeds

I was able to learn about Really Simple Syndication aka RSS feeds. I setup my own bloglines newreader and added feeds to my account. This is something I can see I will use. I have learned from this exercise and hope to use this frequently.

#6 Have Some Flickr Fun

I was able to visit placespotting and I am still not comfortable with all the areas that I have visited. I plan on taking more time after I have completed a preview of the 23 things and go back and explore more fully and in-depth as I would like to be more saavy in using all the tools that are shown to us as part of completing the 23 things.

#5 Explore Flickr

I have explored flickr, set-up account and have a picture that I would like to put on my blog. I am having problems with doing this so I hope to get someone at work to assist me in doing so. I do have every intention of being able to accomplish this task as well as becoming more comfortable has I have always been impressed with others use of this tool.

#7 Create a Blog Post About Anything Technology Related

http://openphoto.net I am feeling very blue as I have been trying and trying to add a picture but I have not been successful. I love the beach and I really saw a neat picture with a beautiful sky. I will try again when I am not quite so exhausted.

I have visited many different websites this evening and am amazed at all there is to explore.

I did go onto the picture of HCPLs techfair and really like the trading card that Maurice made.

My first blog

This is my first opportunity to work on Learning 2.o. Rose had to assist me as I find it very hard to concentrate in the circ workroom. I am distracted very easily. I am looking forward to becoming much more computer saavy with all the new technology available to us.
